3 years! part two of two

Many things change during this 3 years:
  • Nokia N78 (95% of my photos are from little beauty),
  • a used Marzocchi MX Comp 105mm ETA '06 (did a revolution in my XC skills),
  • discovered Rush (it's the best band ever),
  • Sushi (my beloved cold metal friend),
  • Adobe CS4 (blow my mind in happiness and creativity),
  • discovered a super girlfriend,
  • 3 CamelbaK backpacks (Scudo LE, Fairfax and The Don)
  • Walkman X1060 (could this be the best mp3 sound I ever heard?),
  • rented a very small apartment in Lisbon,
  • create and documented a alternative pop loc/push loc for my RS Pike (university project),
  • death of my mother,
  • Stan's NoTubes conversion kit,
  • I dropped university,
  • new glasses
  • lack of money
  • ...

All in all, right now a enjoy a excellent life quality, although I still don't possess a freezer.
For example, I live 25min (biking) from Monsanto, which is biggest park in Lisbon and it's 1 of 3 major mountain biking spots (the others are Arrábida e Sintra).

Panasonic?!

No, actually was Panaracer tires that I saw last week. A friend of mine bought 2x Panaracer Rampage 2.35", 2x CG All Condition 2.35" and 2x CG AM 2.35".

Panaracer should always use pink!

All-Condition 58-559
In a near future I'll give my point of view about these tires, just like I did before with the OOP Mountain King 2.4" UST, Continental's MK 1st generation.

Green and yellow for excellent and good traction. Red is no good.

The Don 2010 is super!

Last week a friend of mine (Fukendie) needed a proper crankset. So we went to another friend (Freddy) to pick up a borrowed RaceFace Evolve XC or something like that.

Smart Wallet is great!
It sounds easy but it wasn't.  For some reason, the RF crankset had a small slack between the crank and bearing. So, we removed an Shimano LX from another bike that Freedy had and installed the RF Evolve again. Same problem!

Suddenly the solution crossed my mind: interweb! Fukendie and Freddy said how am I going to do it in the mindle of nowhere and I showed my brand new CamelbaK - The Don 2010 -  for a mere 65€.

  1. I placed the camel on the floor and and zipped it
  2. I removed the MacBook Pro 13" and a interweb thingy from Vodafone in one of many internal pockets of The Don
  3. Connected the hole thing and establish communication with RF website
  4. Download the respective pdf et voilá
For some reason Freddy wanted to know the meaning of RF 10mm nut but he didn't had a proper tool. Again, The Don 2010 did magic!

  1. From another major internal pocket at the bottom I removed the mythical Lezyne's Smart Wallet
  2. Inside the Smart Wallet there was a Topeak Mini 18+ with a 10mm alan key just to remove the crank nut that Freddy wanted
After the big camel display, Fukendie and I went home with Freddy's RF Evolve XC crankset. This crankset was the last missing part to complete Fukendie's bike: an Spec. Epic S-Works 2009.

The point was that The Don 2010 save two men lives in half an hour and it did with saffron stix pattern style! :)

P.S. - Is it slack or play between mechanical parts? I don't have much verbal skills.

New bag for work!

How could I refuse a camel for 65€?

It's The Don 2010 with everything inside from CamelbaK Scudo '09 SE, plus Scudo itself!

Old Pike 454 teaches new tricks. Order now!

I'm so anxious for tomorrow's oral report defense or something like that but tomorrow will be an important day because I'm reviling a new mechanical actuator to substitute the common Pop Loc, Pop Loc Adjustable, Push Loc and Xloc at my college - FCT UNL.

I call it "The Box". Actually it is a smart box with the remember ability which surpasses everything that Rock Shox and Cannondale's Simon have done to date (2010).

Finally my Sushi - Canyon Nerve ESX 7.0 SE '08 - will show how reliable and smart it is.

The tricky part in using this Shape Memory Alloy prototype was the heat. Body design and electrical installation are crucial, not to mention battery and high cost, although it's a very low tech, low weight and super reliable.

Order now! 50€ each, I guess... 5 meters of this stuff is 80€, then I have to educate it and assemble it. :)

P.S. - I have another theory: How smart is my Sushi/NiTi? Well, it's possible to measure it by using music. So I gave 3 songs from my library and it picked up Toto. (0_0)

Bad ways...

The advantage of Sushi is it's half amphibious way of doing it in a pseudo terrain terms.

If this doesn't make sense to you, it's ok because the secret lays on 'half' and on 'pseudo' but there's no big deal sinse Sushi is a bike and bikes goes everywhere.
